OCI 2012 PRESENTS "SHINE"

In 2012, OCI is all about showcasing the wonderful performers that grace us with their poise, excellence, perserverance, and passion. "SHINE" will feature individuals, sections, and the full ensemble in a way that has yet to be explored by our design team. New rule changes will also allow us to explore some exciting new avenues of design previously unavailable in the percussion world.
For the musical inspiration, what better artist to showcase than the incredible compositions, artistry, and virtuosity of one of OCI's personal favorites: Hiromi Uehara. With Hiromi's album "Voice" as the centerpiece, the program will also be intertwined with some classic themes from composers that have "shined" throughout history.
Many of you will recall our 2010 production "Time Control", and the wonderful musical opportunities provided by Hiromi's album of the same name. Much of our favorite music hit the cutting room floor, so to speak, and we had enough material for 3 or 4 shows! This year after listening to a variety of great music, it was obvious that it was time for OCI to finish what it started and further explore the beautiful mind of Hiromi.
