Mike Stevens is the co-founder and Director of the Oregon Crusaders Indoor Percussion Ensemble. His duties include creating the show concept and musical design, recruiting, scheduling, member and financial management, facililties procurement, fundraising, travel and equipment logistics, staff coordinating and hiring, educational instruction, web design, email and website management, social networking, liason to the local circuit, and future planning.

Along with his duties with OC Indoor, Mr. Stevens is also currently active as the Percussion Arranger/Coordinator for Tigard and Southridge High Schools in Oregon. Mike has served as consultant and arranger for many other groups in the Northwest since 2005.

Prior to his service to the Northwest Percussion Community, Mike has been at the forefront of the activity for over 20 years as a marching member, performer, educator, judge, clinician, consultant, arranger, and composer. He began his performance career in the Tigard High School Marching Band and then went on to participate in the Vancouver Washington Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps, The Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps from Concord, California, and The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps from Allentown, Pennsylvania. He went on to teach the Cadets Quad Line from 92-95, founding the infamous "QB".

Mike received his Bachelor’s Degree (Cum Laude) from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in Music Theory/Composition with a Percussion emphasis. He was also the Percussion Coordinator and Arranger for the Ragin Cajun Marching Band, as well as several area high schools. From 1998-2000 he also served as the Caption Head for the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Denver, Colorado (placing 3rd in Percussion at DCI Finals in 2000).

Following his tenure with the Blue Knights, Mike was the Percussion Specialist, arranger/composer, and private lesson teacher for Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas (2003 WGI Scholastic World Gold Medalists). In 2008, Mr. Stevens composed and designed an all original PASIC Marching Percussion show for Texas State University entitled "SPEED", which took home the silver medal (highest placement in Texas State history).

Mike is thrilled to be back in the Northwest with his family and help build the local community of students and teachers where he grew up. Since moving to the area, he has served on the percussion staff with the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps, Canby High School, Union High School, Skyview High School, Evergreen High School, and The Trailblazers Groove Machine Drumline.

Along with many of the areas most talented percussion teachers, he founded OC Indoor in 2008. Since it’s inception, OC Indoor has traveled to the National Championships three times, earning the WGI Independent A Class Gold Medal in 2009, the WGI Independent Open Class Bronze Medal in 2010, and a promotion to Independent World Class along with a finalist berth in 2011.

Most recently, Mr. Stevens has accepted the position as Caption Supervisor and Arranger for the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mike has done clinics and camps throughout the country and Europe, and due to his prominence in the activity, was asked to be an autograph endorser for the Promark Stick and Mallet Company in 2003. His autograph tenor sticks, the Pro-Mark TS7 and TS7S can be purchased in music stores worldwide.

Mike currently resides in Portland with his wonderful girfriend Karlyn, Punky the Dog, and Half-Step "Kitty" Stevens.
