Back for his fourth season as Battery Supervisor with OCI, Micah Brusse is a percussion instructor from Oregon who works primarily throughout the Northwest. He has been studying percussion for twenty years and has been teaching for over half that time. Having studied orchestral and rudimental percussion both privately and at the University of Oregon, Micah performed with the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps in Concord, California, in 1995 and 1997. In his second year he helped propel the corps to its 9th national championship and a drum title, in addition to taking third place in the solo competition on snare drum. During these years he began his teaching career with marching programs in Oregon and Washington. In the fall of 1998, Micah began teaching the University of Oregon Marching Band as the Percussion Caption Head and battery arranger in addition to becoming the percussion director for the Oregon Summer Music Camp. From 1999 through 2001 he served as the snare technician for the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps in Denver, Colorado, and worked with the Blue Devils in the same capacity from 2002 through 2005. In 2007, Micah joined the instructional staff for the Oregon Crusaders and in 2009 he became the battery coordinator for the independent winter percussion ensemble OC Indoor. Micah has toured the United States and traveled to Europe as a drum corps instructor and continues to be active in the indoor drumline arena in the northwest.
